Wall decoration hanger picture art: Farmer with plow and horses
Polystone wall decoration representing a farmer working the field with a plow and two horses.
It's signed 'A.S.V.', which stands voor 'Arend Spoor Venlo'.
In 1945, after the 2nd World War, Arend Spoor fouded the art group 'Arend Spoor Venlo'.
Work started in the Dwarsstraat in Venlo (Netherlands), and they later moved to the Ferdinand Bolstraat.
At first they made holy images for house devotion and in a later period castings for large sculptures by designer Maessen Roermond.
Many sculptures were exported to the US.
The sculpture is made of polystone, which is a material that consists of crushed stone (among other things granite, marble, soapstone) which is mixed with a liquid synthetic resin.
The result is an sculpture that is as hard and strong as stone and feels that way.
It's originally sold by art dealership Alberts in Heerlen (Netherlands).
The wall hanger is made between 1945 and 1967 and is in very good condition, no damage of any kind.
This beautifuly carved and detailed piece of art can be used indoors and outdoors.
Width 49 cm, heigth 24 cm, depth 11 cm.
The weight is 4 kilograms.
