Antique oak knitting chair with three legs
This old Dutch three legged chair is called a knitting chair. As a result of the slanting handrails, the women who knitted did not suffer from elbows problems.
Other names for this antique chair from the Netherlands are 'driestal' or corner chair.
The original triangular seat is made of woven rushes, a stronger and older material than the later used reed.
With the twisted armrests, this is a very decorative piece.
The chair is dated around 1850 - 1899 and is, with few traces of use, completely original and in very good condition.
Heigth: 84 cm, Width: 56 cm, Depth: 43 cm
