Antique bobbin table
This lovely antique oak table is called a bobbin table and is sometimes also referred to as a gypsy table.
The bobbin style was, in last quarter of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century,
a way for craftsman to show their wood turning skills.
Surviving since the last quarter of the nineteenth century, this is truly a wonderful piece.
The octagonal table top is decorated with a beautifuly carved band of floral motifs.
The three bobbin legs are connected through cross connections.
In the center of these cross connections is a nicely carved centrepiece located.
The legs end in rectangular blocks which contain beautiful engravings.
The table is structurally sound and stable.
